A mark on a test tells you where you stood on one morning. A portfolio shows what changed over five months — and only you can build that.

What goes in

  • Work you are proud of, and why
  • Work that went badly, and what you did next
  • Questions you still have
  • Connections you noticed between units

What does not

  • Everything. A portfolio is chosen, not accumulated.
  • Marks. This is about the work, not the grade on it.

Write entries when the work is fresh

The details you will want at the end of the course — what confused you, what you tried first — are gone by next week. Ten minutes on the day beats an hour later.
